Woman Charged Over Dissident Activity

A woman in west Belfast has been charged by police investigating dissident republican activity.

The 21-year-old was charged with attempting to possess criminal property and perverting the course of justice.

She was arrested by detectives from the PSNI's serious crime branch on Tuesday and will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on 10 January.

Sex Offender Jailed For Seven Years

A convicted sex offender has been jailed for seven years at Londonderry Crown Court.

Retired builder John Bradley abused three young girls over a 13 year period.

Bradley, from Mettican Road in Garvagh, was found guilty in October of 22 charges including one of attempted rape.

He has now been placed on the sex offenders register and been subjected to the terms of a sexual offenders prevention order for life.

The abuse began in 1981 when the victims were all at primary school.

Union Flag Protests 'Thuggish Rioting' - Judge

A High Court judge has described the ongoing violence over the union flag at Belfast City Hall as "thuggish rioting".

Mr Justice McCloskey was responding to allegations that a teenager threw bricks at officers and kicked a PSNI vehicle.

18-year-old Johnathan McClelland of Tavanagh Street, Belfast, faces a charge of riotous behaviour.

McClelland has admitted his involvement. His defence said he had been initially at a peaceful protest but had been caught up in the violence.

But the judge has taken issue with the word ‘protest'. He said: "The reality of the vast majority of this kind of behaviour is that it is thuggish rioting, there is no other way of approaching it."

Belfast's Loos Awarded At Event

Belfast City Council has been honoured at the annual Loo of the Year Awards in Birmingham.

The Council scored in the Champions League Standards of Excellence and Premier League for the Local Authority Award.

Three of the city’s public toilets, City Hall, Custom House and Winetavern Street, were national category winners, achieving platinum status.

The council`s mobile cleaning teams also won the `Attendant of the Year` Award.

The awards are independently run and promoted by the British Toilet Association.

Man Bailed Over Sex Offences
A 40-year-old man has appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged in connection with a number of sexual offences. The man faces on charge of rape, two charges of sexual assault and one charge of sexual activity with a child.

Two due in court charged with riotous behaviour
A 21-year-old-man is due to appear in Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged with riotous assembly. The man, who is from the Highfield area of the city, is charged in connection with riotous behaviour in North Belfast, following the contentious Whiterock parade on September 10, 2005.

Two Baton Rounds Lost During PSNI Operation In Belfast City Centre
The PSNI have issued an appeal to the public following the loss of two Attenuating Energy Projectile (AEP) rounds during an incident at a hotel in Belfast city centre. On the evening of Sunday 7 May specially trained firearms officers were deployed to a report of a man with a gun threatening staff and guests at a hotel in Belfast City Centre.

BCC Leader Questions Funding Of West Belfast Festival Over 'Pro-IRA Singing'
The DUP leader of Belfast City Council has questioned the funding of West Belfast Festival over alleged "pro-IRA singing" at one of their events. Councillor Ald Brian Kingston raised the issued after it was alleged that the crowed at a concert at the Festival chanted "ooh ah up the Ra".
