Belfast company secure £4.6m IT Council contract
Northern Ireland-based, Consilium Technologies has won a £4.6 million contract to deliver a suite of back-and front- office software applications, and related business consulting services to a leading council in Nottinghamshire, England.
As a leading supplier of IT solutions specifically for district councils, Consilium's contract is designed to advance Bassetlaw District Council's e-government agenda.
It follows closely on the heels of similar deals signed by Consilium during 2002 with Alnwick District Council and Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council, providing further evidence of growing market acceptance for Consilium’s innovative Application Service Provision (ASP), off-site datacentre hosted software management service.
Commenting on the deal, Stephen Brown, Head of Customer Services at Bassetlaw District Council, said: “Bassetlaw is keen to embrace the opportunities offered by e-government but like most district councils we face great challenges in modernising our IT systems.
"Consilium’s focus on district councils means that its solutions are rooted in the realities of this market. It offered us an attractive funding model plus a full portfolio of market leading software that unites our front- and back-office.
"Importantly, we are confident that Consilium can help us with new demands as they arise thanks to its practical approach to working with our existing IT team."
The announcement by Consilium marks the start of another successful year for the company. During the 12 months ended 31 December 2002, Consilium grew its revenues by nearly 50 per cent to £4.2 million, expanded its customer by 25 per cent and increased headcount by 44 per cent.
Based in Belfast, the company employs 65 people and specialises in meeting the IT needs of District Councils across the UK.
