£50,000 Funding Announced To Support Young People Learning Computer Programming
SDLP MLA for Newry and Armagh Dominic Bradley has welcomed the allocation of £50,000 to help support young people learning computer programming in Coder Dojo clubs.
Commenting on the news, Mr Bradley said: "There is a huge need for computer programmers in our economy which we must endeavour to meet, especially in relation to the creative industries. The Coder Dojo clubs give young people the opportunity to develop their programming skills and although this allocation of funds is relatively small it is nonetheless welcome.
"During the Culture Arts and Leisure Committee's enquiry into the creative industry which will be published soon, I outlined the important role that the clubs play in increasing programming skill levels."
