Danny McKay Murder: Man Arrested

A man has been arrested over the murder of Danny McKay in October.

The 25-year-old man was arrested in Antrim on Tuesday morning.

36-year-old Danny McKay was murdered at his home on Longlands Road on Newtownabbey on 25 October. He was shot several times as he sat on a sofa in his living room. He died at the scene.

Mr McKay was the father of a 10-year-old child. It is thought at least two armed men were involved in the attack.

A funeral service was held on 01 November at St Gerard’s church on the Antrim Road.

Fr Gerry Cassidy, who presided over the service, said Mr McKay had been killed "in the early summer of his life".

Police have appealed for information from anyone who saw a silver Volkswagen Bora which was used in the murder.

The vehicle had been stolen by five masked men in the New Lodge area shortly before the shooting.

It was found burnt out in Ardmoulin Place, west Belfast, later on.

Police are also asking for anyone who may have seen a dark coloured saloon car being driven in a suspicious manner in the Longlands area during the period leading up to Mr McKay's murder to contact them.
