Man Released After Woman's Four-Storey Fall

A 26-year-old man arrested after a woman fell from a building in west Belfast has been released.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the woman fell from the fourth floor window in Spring Meadow at 04:50 on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old was taken to hospital to be treated for serious chest and leg injuries.

The man has been released on bail pending enquiries.

L'Derry Man Pleads Guilty To Drug Charges

A man from L’Derry has pleaded guilty to possessing heroin, ecstasy and another drug.

The charge came after he was searched by police in Magherafelt earlier in the year.

Nigel Martin Stewart, 38, whose address was given as Simon Community in Derry, was at Londonderry Crown Court on Tuesday.

Mr Stewart has also pleaded guilty to possessing 62 ecstasy tablets on the same date.

He has been a drug addict for the last 20 years and has 19 previous drugs convictions, the court heard.

Sentencing was adjourned while he completed a drugs rehabilitation course, but the judge warned him that he would be randomly tested for drugs until his sentencing and that, should he fail, he would go to jail.

NI Tourist Figures In Decline

The number of tourists coming to Northern Ireland has declined, according to official figures.

The Department of Enterprise says the number of overseas visitors staying at least one night has fallen by 12% compared to 2011.

The number of visitors from Great Britain has declined 15%, while visitors from the rest of Europe are down 20%.

Visitors from North America are up 18% and hotel room occupancy rates have increased 11%.

The figures cover the period January-September 2012.

Home Of L'Derry Pensioner Burgled

A County L’Derry pensioner has had her cash, cards and jewellery stolen after her house was broken into.

The 84-year-old woman’s home in Dungiven was ransacked and damaged in the burglary.

The incident happened in Finvola Park between 17:30 and 19:00 on Saturday. The woman was not at home at the time of the incident.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them.

Many Arrests In Gardaí Drugs Raids
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and 'crack' cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

Three Arrests In Connection With Portadown Drug Seizure
Two men and a woman have been arrested in connection with a drug seizure in Portadown. Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by colleagues from Tactical Support Group, carried out a planned search operation at three residential properties and one business premises in the town on Wednesday, 20 September.
