Appeal Over Caroline Graham Murder 'Map'

Police have asked the person who sent them a map relating to the murder of teenager Caroline Graham to contact them.

Caroline was 19 when she went missing from her home in Portadown, County Armagh, in 1989.

A search was renewed in the beginning of October and focussed on the Carleton Street area where she had lived with her boyfriend, as well as surrounding areas of waste ground and a well.

Police are now saying the map they revealed from an anonymous member of the public requires clarification.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Crawford, said: "We are grateful to this person for providing information but we need to clarify some details.

"We will deal with them and their information in absolute confidence."

He said the number to call is 07585 228283.

Detectives investigating the case have been using body recovery dogs, probes, structural engineers and an underwater search team.

Detective Chief Inspector Crawford said police believe more than one person knows where the teenager's body is buried.

He said: "They are holding a very dark secret. We need them to come forward and tell us exactly what they know.

"Whoever is responsible for Caroline's murder has spoken to people and they know exactly what has happened to Caroline."

"We really need to know what building work was being done in April 1989 in Carleton Street."

"We believe Caroline's body was dumped in an existing hole, that it was covered over and possibly later topped with concrete.

He added: "Even if you think that what you know is only rumour or chat, we need to hear it. Please don't assume that police know. Don't think your information is not relevant or significant - it might be. Let us decide."
