O'Connor To Present An Overview Of The Irish Economy
SIPTU President, Jack O'Connor, will outline a 'New Course' for economic recovery and growth at 6.30 pm on Monday, 5th November, in the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Road, Galway.
At the seminar, organised by the SIPTU Galway District Committee, Jack O'Connor will present an overview of the Irish economy and outline why the fiscal strategy set out in the Troika agreement cannot succeed.
Mr O'Connor said: "The fiscal strategy set out in the Troika agreement is not working. The one sided austerity will not succeed. The centerpiece of the 'New Course' is a plan to generate 25,000 new jobs by the end of 2013 and 50,000 by the end of 2014."
Galway District Committee chairperson, Seamus Dillon, said: "We are delighted to welcome Jack O’Connor to Galway and are looking forward to hearing about his alternative proposition to the existing policy of cuts."
The Galway District Committee seminar is open to all SIPTU representatives, activists and members.
