Quinn Jr Appeal To Re-Commence
The fourth day of an appeal by the son of Fermanagh businessman Sean Quinn is due to resume today.
The case is being heard at Dublin's Supreme Court.
Sean Quinn Jr was jailed for three months in July following revelations he had committed contempt of court by ignoring orders not to interfere with Quinn International Property Group assets.
A judge ruled he had put millions of pounds worth of international property beyond the reach of the former Anglo Irish Bank.
The appeal is centred around Sean Quinn Jr’s belief he was not in contempt of court and that, even if he were, the decision to jail him was disproportionate.
Lawyers representing the businessman described as "incorrect and legally wrong" the decision to jail him.
The Quinns admitted initially moving assets beyond the reach of IBRC, but say this was prior to a High Court injunction issued on 27 June 2011 ordering them to stop.
But lawyers for IBRC have revealed new information which, they say, shows the Quinns had indeed drawn up contracts with companies linked to their asset-stripping strategy.
The bank claims some of the contracts were backdated to make it appear they were signed before the court order was issued.
Lawyers said this new evidence was relevant to Sean Quinn Jr's credibility, his intention and as proof of non-disclosure.
Meanwhile, Fermanagh District Council is courting controversy over its decision to back the bankrupt billionaire and his family. The decision came as a result of "significant contributions" to the border community by the Quinn family.
