Racist Attack Victim's Wife 'May Leave Coleraine'
A Chinese man who was beaten up in a racist attack in Coleraine on Tuesday night is considering fleeing the town.
John Wu, 45, is still in hospital with injuries after he was attacked by four men and a woman outside his home.
His wife Ru-yin Lu-o was looking after the couple's young daughter when she heard her husband screaming in pain outside.
She said he had confronted people who hit a hole in the front door, and when she went outside there was blood "all over his face and hands".
Mrs Wu said the people responsible "just walked away" while she screamed.
She said: "My neighbours came out and were very kind, they put towels on my husband's head and offered to look after my baby so I could take my husband to the hospital.
"I have never felt vulnerable or lonely before but I think now we will probably move."
Mr Wu's injuries have been described as not life-threatening.
Police asked anyone with information to contact police at Coleraine.
And Max Petrushkin of the Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities condemned the attack and called for more robust legislation against hate crime.
He told the News Letter: "At the moment the legislation doesn't seem to be producing results."
PSNI statistics show a fall in the number of racist crimes over the last two years.
