Caravan Thief Jailed

A man who stole a caravan and attempted to steal another has been jailed for five months at Armagh Magistrates Court.

Patrick Murphy, of Forkhill Road, Newry, pleaded guilty to charges of theft, attempted theft and using a vehicle without insurance and a driving licence.

He received two five-month prison sentences on the charges of theft and attempted theft, which are to run concurrently.

He has been disqualified from driving for two years and fined £200 for driving a Ford Focus without insurance at Middletown on July 14.

Budding Ballygawley Sports Writer Off To Paralympics

A school student from County Tyrone is getting ready to make her way to the Parlympics in London after winning a writing competition.

Carina Canavan, of St Ciaran's College, won the UK-wide Paralympic Post Writing Competition with her interview of blind Cookstown swimmer Stephen Campbell.

She has been to Brimingham for her training and will take up position in the Olympic village from August 29 to September 9 for the international contest.

Horse Fall Funeral Takes Place

The body of a girl who died in a horse-riding accident has been put to rest.

The funeral of 13-year-old Hannah Wiley took place at 2pm today in Leckpatrick Presbyterian Church, Artigarvan.

Dromore Man Jailed For Attacking Woman With Baseball Bat
A 33-year-old man from Dromore has received a four-and-a-half year sentenced for an assault in which he attacked a woman with a baseball bat. Glenn Magee was sentenced at Craigavon Crown Court on Tuesday 10th September, to four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment – two years in custody and the remainder on licence.

Man Jailed For Sexual Assault Of 'Vulnerable Young Woman'
The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a 63-year-old man for sexual offences against a "vulnerable young woman" while working as a taxi driver in October 2017. Paul Bryan, from the Republic of Ireland, was sentenced at Londonderry Crown Court for sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault of an 18 year old woman.
