Jordan's Paralympics Team Members In Court On Sex Charges

Three members of Jordan's Paralympics squad have appeared in court in Coleraine charged with sexual offences.

An embassy official from the Middle Eastern country offered bail sureties on behalf of Faisal Hammash, Omar Sami Qaradhi and Motaz Al-Junad.

He said the King of Jordan took a personal interest in the case and that the administration of the country would promise to bring the sportsmen back before the court.

The team were training at the Antrim Forum in Antrim, the town where they were arrested.

Faisal Hammash, 35, a trainer with the squad, faces two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Power-lifter Omar Sami Qaradhi, 31, is charged with three counts of sexual assault and one of voyeurism. At least two of the assaults were against children.

Motaz Al-Junadi, 45, also a power-lifter, faces one charge of sexual assault. All the offences took place between 16 and 20 August.

65-Year-Old Man Jailed For Killing His Wife In 2020

At Belfast Crown Court, Gary Baird, pleaded guilty to killing his wife Susan (60) in an attack at their south Belfast home.
