Foo Fighters Promise To Be Back But Noise Prompts Complaints
US band the Foo Fighters have played Belfast for the first time and promised to come again soon, delighting their fans.
But residents from miles around complained about the volume at last night's gig.
More than two dozen angry residents contacted the council's noise control line during the first night of the Tennent's Vital festival.
About 30,000 fans flocked to the Boucher Road to hear the band, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl.
Grohl gushed of his Belfast fans: "This audience could keep you warm on a night like this" and said: "So sorry it took so long. I promise it won't take so long for us to come back again."
But on the clear night, their music travelled far and wide, with some people reporting to hear the noise as far away as Ballynahinch in County Down.
The city council said most of the complaints received were from south and east Belfast but noise was within agreed levels.
The Black Keys, The Cribs, The Minutes and local band Trucker Diablo supported the Foo Fighters.
Florence and the Machine, Maverick Sabre and Rodrigo y Gabriela will perform tonight along with the Stone Roses and Gerard i2.

Noise Awareness campaign launched
A new Noise Awareness Campaign which aims to inform noisy neighbours that ‘Too Loud is Not Allowed!’ has been launched by the DOE’s Environment and Heritage Service. Recently released figures estimate that one in four people in the UK suffer noise disturbance from neighbours.

NI Lorry Driver Jailed In Connection With £3m Drug Seizure
A 38-year-old man has been jailed in connection with the largest single drug seizure by the PSNI. At Belfast Crown Court, Andrew Stafford pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply.
