Over 1000 Applicants For Just 38 Jobs With Halfords
1,410 applications were received by the car parts and bike retailer Halfords, for just 38 vacancies.
With more than 400 outlets across Ireland and the UK, it has advertised a total of 476 jobs and received more than 10,000 applicants.
"We are investing more in fitting services and in other parts of the business where we are seeing strong customer demand and the opportunity for growth," Paul McClenaghan, Halfords commercial director said.
"Halfords is evolving from a traditional retailer of products to contemporary business that also provides fitting and other services," he added.
The Irish vacancies are in outlets in Dublin, Limerick, Meath, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Sligo, Galway and Laois. Successful applicants will be paid between €8.83 and €12.04 an hour.

200 Galway Jobs Created By Online Retailer
Two hundred jobs are to be created in Galway by online retailer CSN Stories, it has been revealed. The world wide firm said the plans would be implemented over the next three years. CSN is expected to set up a European, Middle Eastern and African headquarters in the city.

1,000 Jobs To Be Created In Belfast
