Miss Northern Ireland On Way Home From Worlds

Miss Northern Ireland Tiffany Brien, of Holywood, missed out on the top spot at this year’s Miss World contest in Chine at the weekend.

But she made the final 30 at the pageant, where home star Miss China, Yu Wenxia, triumphed.

A total of 116 pageant queens took part in this year's contest.

Miss Brien is due to touch down in Northern Ireland today.

Man Fined For Illegal Collection

A Derry man has been fined £30 for carrying out an illegal street collection.

James Gallagher, 61, from Creggan Heights, denied collected the money, which was said to have been for republican prisoners and collected during a protest at Free Derry Corner in November.

Benefit Fraudsters Sentenced In Armagh

Three people have been convicted at Armagh Magistrates' Court of claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Donna Magennis (31) of Drumarg Park, Armagh was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Jobseekers Allowance totalling £320.

Colm O’Neill (30) of Drumshill Park, Armagh was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Jobseekers Allowance totalling £116.

Leonard Armstrong (44) of Hillside Avenue, Hamiltonsbawn was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay court costs of £22 for wrongful encashment of Jobseekers Allowance totalling £223.

All are also required to repay any outstanding money they wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

18-Year-Old Charged With Assault Of Police Officer In Ardboe
An 18-year-old male has been charged in connection with an assault on an officer in Ardboe. A police officer was injured after his arm was pinned between a vehicle and police car in the Kilmascally Road area Ardboe outside Dungannon on Saturday night, 27th July. The officer attended hospital for assessment to an arm and hand injury.

Belfast Woman Convicted Of Animal Cruelty
Belfast City Council has welcomed the conviction of a woman for causing unnecessary suffering to a cat. In June this year, the council received complaints that a cat had been left at the property unattended for a number of days.

21-Year-Old Charged With The Murder Of His Mother
A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of a 43-year-old woman in east Belfast on Friday, 13 September. The suspect has been named by the PSNI as Nathan Simpson, and he is charged with the murder of his mother, Rachel Simpson, at her home on the Castlereagh Road last Friday.

21-Year-Old Charged With Murder Of Woman In East Belfast
A 21-year-old man is due to appear in Belfast Magistrate's Court today charged with with murder of a woman in east Belfast. Responding to a 'concern for safety' report, police attended a house on the Castlereagh Road shortly before 10.30pm on Friday, 13 September.

New Three-Year Economic And Business Growth Plan Launched
A new three-year economic and business growth plan has been announced by Economy Minister, Conor Murphy. The Minister launched the publication, 'Three-Year Forward Look and 2024/25 Business Plan', at the latest Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry Public Affairs Forum.
