Ardoyne Riots Suspects Photos Released

Police investigating the riots in north Belfast on July 12 have released images of nine people they want to speak to.

PSNI Chief Inspector Alan Little said he was hopeful that the public could assist police in identifying the nine people shown in the images.

The clashes centred around a contentious Orange Order parade in an nationalist area, and a counter-demonstration by nationalist residents.

Petrol bombs, fireworks and other missiles were thrown during rioting, and twenty police officers were injured.

Twenty-five people have already been charged to date with various offences relating to the trouble that broke out on the day.

Mr Little said: "From the start we have adopted a very proactive approach in relation to the investigation of public disorder both on the lead up to 12th July and following the scenes that were witnessed again this year.

"This approach has included taking every step possible to reduce the possibility of violence, including reviewing investigations from previous years.

"The investigation into the incidents at Ardoyne on 12th July has received strong support and we have had a very positive response from members of the public to date.

"I am now asking the local community to help identify these individuals whom we’d like to talk to in connection with our ongoing enquiries."

"It is in everybody's interest - as well as in the interest of justice - that those responsible are dealt with appropriately."
