Sarcon Ltd Recruits Four New Staff Members

A new small business set up last year in Doagh, Co Antrim, has received support under Invest Northern Ireland's Jobs Fund to employ four people in its first year.

Sarcon Ltd, which trades as GRV Ireland, offers a chewing gum removal service using specialist machinery.

As well as providing the service, the company manufactures gum removal vehicles (GRVs) for sale to the Great Britain and Republic of Ireland markets.

Gren Armstrong, Manager of Invest NI’s North Eastern Regional Office, said: "This new business is providing a solution to the problem of chewing gum which has been discarded in public areas and looks unsightly.

"It has identified a market for the service in Northern Ireland and is also intending to export its GRVs, giving it a dual revenue stream. Our Jobs Fund has offered £28,000 of support to enable the company to employ four people, which will give it a chance to get established in its first year and achieve its turnover targets."

The GRV is a solar assisted, battery operated, all-electric vehicle, which carries water vapour steam equipment to remove the gum. Sarcon is the European manufacturer and distributor of the vehicle on behalf of Bio Steam Australia, its developer.

The company is owned and run by co-Directors Mark Holland and Robin Byers.
