RoI small firms job creation set to halve
The Republic of Ireland's Small Firms' Association has revealed that employment creation by small firms will more than halve this year.
Findings from its annual employment survey say that this year will be the 'worst on record' for employment growth amongst small firms.
This is the fourth year in a row that the employment survey of the Small Firms Association has shown a decline in the number of new jobs small firms hope to create.
The survey of just over 1,000 firms across a range of sectors show just over a third of firms have plans to create any new jobs this year.
With a projected increase in employment being just 2.7% - thus creating over 17,000 new jobs - this is less than half the number of jobs created last year and less than a third of the number created three years ago.
