Car destroyed in arson attack

A car belonging to the daughter of an SDLP councillor in Co Tyrone has been destroyed in an arson attack outside the family's home.

The car was set alight outside Cllr Ann Bell's home at Knockavoe Crescent in Strabane at around 11pm on Tuesday night.

Scenes of crime officers are expected to examine the remains of the vehicle later today.

Elsewhere, a security alert continued into Wednesday morning after a suspect package was found on the railway line near Lurgan on Tuesday night.

Army experts were moving in to examine the package this morning.

All Enterprise trains to Dublin will be serviced by bus between Belfast Central and Newry stations, and for local trains, buses will run between Moira and Portadown stations.

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man at a supermarket car park in Co Down. Colin Horner, 35, was fatally shot in front of his son just outside Sainsbury's in Bangor on Sunday, 28 May. A 28-year-old man was arrested in the Newtownards area on Tuesday evening, 31 May.

Couple escape injury after car is set alight outside home
A couple have escaped injury after a car was set alight outside the back of their home in north Belfast on Wednesday. The male occupant of the house in Brompton Park said flames were burning only feet away from the gas meter of his home after youths set fire to a car at the back door of their property.

Man Released Over Malcolm McKeown Murder
A man arrested over the murder of Malcolm McKeown at a petrol station in Co Down last August has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service. The 27 year-old was detained in Belfast yesterday, Wednesday 19 February. Mr McKeown, aged 54, was found dead in his car outside Dewart's Garage in Waringstown on Monday 19 August.

Police Given More Time To Question Man Over Knockloughrim Death
Police have been granted more time to question a man over the death of a woman in Knockloughrim, Co L'Derry. A woman died in hospital after being found in a burning car outside a house on Quarry Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The man was arrested at the scene.

Police are appealing for information after reports of a suspicious car parked outside a primary school in Co Antrim. A white Toyota car was parked outside St Patricks Primary School at around 8.30am in Loughgiel on Monday, 19 June.
