Joanna Mills Bows Out Of Olympic Fight

Snubbed teenage athlete Joanna Mills has decided not to continue fighting for a spot on Ireland's Olympic squad.

The Ballymena 19-year-old was passed over for a place on the 4x400m Olympic relay team, despite having some faster times than another runner on the team.

In a long and drawn-out process, she has already been awarded the place and then had it taken off her again.

On Tuesday, Athletics Ireland decided to pick Catriona Cuddihy, who was ranked one place lower than the County Antrim girl when teams were chosen earlier this year.

Miss Mills said on the social microblogging site twitter that she would not be taking her case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland.

She said: "I've decided that even though I may have grounds to win the appeal I'm not going to take it to CAS! I wish the 4x4 success at London 2012."
