Young Mum Of Two Targeted In Arson Attack

A young mother has said she feared for her life during an arson attack on her Londonderry home.

Lisa Cruikshank, 27, became aware of blazes outside her front and back door when her smoke alarm went off on Saturday morning.

A wheeled bin on fire had been pushed outside her front door, while rubbish was burning at the back door of her house in Cuthbert Street in the Waterside.

The mother-of-two said she was glad she was on her own in the house at the time.

She ran downstairs and out the back door with her top over her mouth to protect her from inhaling the smoke.

Police have described the incident as arson and asked anyone with information to contact them.

Yesterday, three people escaped injury when petrol bombs were thrown at their flat in Lurgan.

One bomb exploded and cause minor damage to a window of the flat in Russell Drive, while the other failed to go off.

Police have appealed for information about the attack, which happened at 11.40pm.
