Two Arrests Over Journalist's Death

Two men have been arrested over the murder of a Belfast-born journalist.

Eugene Moloney was found with head injuries in Camden Street, Dublin, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that the 55-year-old died at the scene from his injuries.

The Irish Sun reported that Mr Moloney was walking home to Rathmines after a stag do when he was attacked by a group.

Two suspects were detained on Monday morning in the south of the city.

Gardai are questioning them separately and have called for information from anyone who was in the area between 3.45am and 4.30am, particularly anyone who was near the pedestrian lights or witnessed an incident.

Anyone with information should ring Kevin Street Garda Station on (01) 6669400.

Mr Moloney began his career with the Irish News in the 1970s and worked for the Irish Independent for 20 years before taking redundancy.

He worked as a news reporter and a features writer and is remembered as being passionate about music.
