Ulster Bank Error Leaves Customers' Payments Delayed
Ulster Bank has admitted ongoing delays in processing payments and warned it may take until tomorrow (Friday) for the backlog to be cleared.
The bank thanked customers for their patience and said that anyone who needs to access their salary or social security payments urgently should go to their local branch with account details and ID.
This applies to payments that were due yesterday or today.
Transactions that were due into accounts on Tuesday (June 19) have now been processed, the bank said.
ATMs and the bank's Anytime online and telephone banking system will also be showing customers' balance with a backlog.
The bank said customers who experienced charges or lost interest due to the technical difficulties could contact the bank and be reimbursed.
A Consumer Council spokeswoman said it would "monitor the situation so that the bank ensures no customer loses out as a result of this effort".
Sister banks Natwest and RBS have also experienced problems.
