Drunken Kebab Fight Man Is Jailed

A 24-year-old man has been jailed for two years after a drunken fight over a kebab.

Gary Bain, of Chamberlain Street in Belfast, broke his victim's jaw in two places outside a fast food outlet.

Belfast Crown Court heard he ran after the other man when his kebab was snatched out of his hand, in Bradbury Place in the early hours of September 11 last year.

He knocked him to the ground with a punch to the mouth.

Then he and another man kicked and stamped on their victim.

Bain admitted grievous bodily harm with intent and assaulting police.

PSNI officers had to chase Bain when they arrived at the scene.

At Lower Crescent where they caught him, he lashed out against them and was struck repeatedly with batons before they could arrest him.

Judge Patrick Lynch told Bain he had committed an "appalling series of acts" and must spend three years on licence and undertake alcohol counselling.
