Badger-Baiting Charge In Newtownards
A man has been accused of animal cruelty offences after a PSNI operation against alleged badger-baiting.
Edward Edens, 21, from Strandburn Drive, Belfast, was the fifth person to be accused of causing unnecessary suffering to a badger, resulting from the operation.
He was also charged with interfering with a badger sett.
Edens was remanded on bail until July 16, when he and the other four men accused will appear in the dock again.
New Sinn Fein MLA For Foyle
A new Sinn Fein MLA has been sworn in for Foyle.
Maeve McLaughlin is replacing Martina Anderson, who left her position to be the party’s MEP in Brussels.
Ms McLaughlin said she would focus on directing investment towards parts of the city where people were "living in high social need".
£10m Loss For Shopping Centre
The firm that owns the Foyleside shopping centre in Londonderry and the Forestside complex in south Belfast made a £10m loss last year.
Directors blamed "difficult market conditions" but said they were satisfied with the performance.
The company's properties are now valued at £557m compared to £622m in 2010.
Foyleside Ltd also owns other shopping centres across the UK.

Second Erne Rescue Drama
The man rescued after falling into Lough Erne earlier this week is recovering having been initially detained for observation in hospital. This is the second such incident in weeks as a construction worker was forced to enter the chilly waters of Lough Erne to rescue a woman back in March.

Police have arrested a man in his 30s following an assault at the Buttercrane Shopping Centre in Newry. PSNI received a report that a man in his 40s was headbutted and sustained a serious injury to his eye during an altercation on Tuesday 9 July at around 12.15pm.
