NI-Korean Show To Hit Mac Theatre
A multimedia and cross-cultural show will hit the new Mac theatre this month, marking the first time a south Korean ballet troupe ever performs in Northern Ireland.
Geoung Soo Kim ballet company will perform in Love of Salmon, a poignant but family-friendly production which tells the story of a father's ultimate sacrifice to save the life of his young son who has been diagnosed with leukaemia.
It is produced by south Belfast's Green Sky Performing Arts and will hit the stage on June 22, with proceeds going to the NI Cancer Fund for Children.
Green Sky’s artistic director, Nanah McGlennon, produced the play to mark the 10th anniversary of her father’s death from cancer.
As well as offering a tribute to her late father, Nanah wanted to "build a bridge between Irish theatre and South Korean culture".
In anticipation of opening night, Green Sky is hosting an Afternoon Tea event this Saturday in the company's offices at 51 Malone Road, Belfast (beside the Wellington Park Hotel) from 4pm to 6pm. Guests will be treated to a host of entertainment such as ballet, salsa dancing and comedy mime while enjoying a cup of tea and a bun. Minimum donation is £5 with proceeds going to NICFC.
Tickets for the play which begins at 7.30pm are £15 (concession £10) from www.themaclive.com.
