Precision Manufacturer Saves Over £500,000 Through Efficiency Measures

Northern Hydraulics Ltd based in Coalisland, Co. Tyrone has announced savings of over £500,000 through a programme of efficiency measures undertaken with support from Invest Northern Ireland.

Northern Hydraulics is a leading UK manufacturer of precision hydraulic cylinders and has been operating across the global marketplace for over 25 years. It supplies customers across a range of industries including materials handling, quarrying, waste and recycling, and agriculture.

To achieve these savings, Northern Hydraulics streamlined its production process, improved workflow management to help reduce delays and introduced flexible shift patterns to enable the production team to react more effectively to meet its customers’ demands.

Invest NI supported the employment of an individual who helped the company to identify and implement the efficiency measures. Invest NI’s support was part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Niall Casey, Director of Skills and Strategy at Invest NI, said: “Northern Hydraulics has embraced an ethos of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement throughout its operations. This project further demonstrates the company’s focus on maintaining its competitive edge by constantly adapting to the needs of its customers."

Seamus Morris, Managing Director at Northern Hydraulics, said: “This improvement programme has been a resounding success and the savings achieved will bring long-term benefits to the company. Our versatile approach to production and flexible working environment has enabled us to maximise our profits. We are committed to maintaining our reputation as an innovative and reliable company and are focusing on ensuring the future success and prosperity of the business.”
