Lyttle Receives Petition From Victims And Survivors At Stormont

Alliance OFMDFM spokesperson Chris Lyttle MLA has received a petition from Victims and Survivors at Stormont today over a shortfall in support for them. The petition was organised by the WAVE Trauma centre.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: "I was very honoured to take part in the handing over of the petition. We must never forget those who were injured or bereaved during the Troubles.

"Talking to some of those who attended today’s event, you find it hard not to be moved by the stories they have to tell. But we must do more to ensure that they are getting the right support that they need.

"There is no one size fits all response for victims and survivors, different people have varying experiences and so require different degrees and forms of support. The new victims and survivors service will provide a single point of access and will provide a valuable role in co-ordinating services.

"My colleague Naomi Long MP will be hosting WAVE at an event in Westminster next week to hear their concerns at the past and current level of support they have been given."
