Foster Welcomes Dale Farm As Irish Open Sponsors

Tourism Minister Arlene Foster has welcomed today's announcement that Dale Farm will be an official sponsor of the Irish Open at Royal Portrush.

Dale Farm is the largest dairy business in Northern Ireland and has operations throughout the UK and Ireland. Producing and distributing a wide range of dairy products which it sells across the UK and Ireland as well as exporting to over 45 countries worldwide.

Welcoming the announcement Arlene Foster said: “This is a further boost for the Irish Open. It is very encouraging to see such high-profile local firms view the event as an opportunity to promote their world-class range of products and services.

"The fact that we are hosting an Irish Open that will boast three of the four current major champions - reigning Open Champion Darren Clarke; US Open Champion Rory McIlroy and the reigning US PGA Champion Keegan Bradley - means that people from around the world will be watching.

"This is our year to change global perceptions and reposition Northern Ireland as a place to live, work, invest and visit. We have a lot to be proud of, including the achievements of our local golfers to date.

"We have a wealth of quality local companies that are making significant impact in international markets. In terms of our tourism offering our breathtaking scenery and unique attractions including the spectacular Titanic Belfast and the soon to be completed Giant’s Causeway visitor centre provide compelling reasons for tourists to visit."

The PSNI and partners have unveiled a major traffic management plan ahead of this year's Amgen Irish Open at Royal County Down from 12-15 September. The management plan has been developed in partnership with DP World Tour – organisers of the event – the Department for Infrastructure, Translink and Newry Mourne and Down Council.

Portstewart To Host 2017 Irish Open
The 2017 Irish Open is to be held in Portstewart, Co L'Derry. The event is to take place at Portstewart Golf Club from 06 - 09 July next year. DUP MP Gregory Campbell described the announcement as "fantastic news".

Over £21,000 Secured To Prepare For The Irish Open
£21,500 has been secured to help the new Newry, Mourne and Down District Council prepare for the Irish Open Golfing Championship in May. The funding will be used to improve the appearance of properties and derelict sites located in Ballynahinch, Saintfield, Annalong and Kilkeel.
