Minister Considers Lowering Learner Drivers Age Limit
The Environment Minister has announced he is considering lowering the current age limit of 17 for learner drivers.
Alex Attwood also said learner drivers could be allowed to drive at 70mph on motorways under radical changes to testing.
The SDLP Minister said: "I believe we have an opportunity to have the most radical re-configuration of driving testing in a way that can potentially work its way through to reducing insurance costs for everybody, but particularly new drivers, and improve road safety and improve driver capacity."

15-Year-Old Caught Driving 96mph On M2
A 15-year-old boy has been caught by the police driving at 96 mph on the M2 motorway on Wednesday. The PSNI road policing unit posted a picture of the speed gun with the caption: "This speed was recorded on the M2 today by Road Policing officers. Driver was just 15 yrs of age." No other information has been released.

Onscreen hazard testing for NI learner drivers
Learner drivers in Northern Ireland will soon be experiencing onscreen testing of their reactions to real hazards as part of revisions to the driving test. From January, candidates taking the 35-question driving theory test will also have to complete a separate hazard perception test.

Teenager Assaulted In L'Derry
A teenager has been assaulted in Co L'Derry. The attack, which is being treated as sectarian, happened in the Waterside area just after 10pm on Saturday, 19 May. The 15-year-old was repeatedly kicked on his head, face and back. He was able to get away and a member of the public brought him home.
