Woman Arrested Over False Reports Of Baby Falling From A Ferry

A 37-year-old woman has been arrested for wasting police time after false reports a baby had fallen into the Belfast Lough.

A major search operation was carried out, however it was called off in Thursday afternoon.

Police said they no longer believed a baby had fallen into the water.

The woman was saved 15 minutes after the alarm was raised on board the Stena Line ferry at around 6.15pm on Wednesday.

She has since been released from hospital.

Fatal Building Site Accident Probed
Falling bricks have killed a 61-year-old man on a building site in Co Tyrone. The incident happened at a house under construction on a building site in Main Street in Fintona, County Tyrone shortly after 9am on Friday. Emergency services treated the man at the scene but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police Believe A Baby Did Not Fall Into The Belfast Lough
Police do not believe a baby fell from a ferry in to the Belfast Lough in Northern Ireland. A woman was rescued from the Stena Line boat on Wednesday night. She was taken to the Royal Victoria hospital and is in a stable condition. The search for the baby began this morning in bad weather conditions.

Elderly Woman In Critical Condition After Falling From Moving Vehicle
The PSNI in L'Derry have issued an appeal for information after an elderly woman reportedly fell from a moving vehicle. According to reports, the woman, aged in her 70s, was loading shopping into a vehicle in the car park of Eurospar in Glenabbey Close when the vehicle moved unexpectedly.

Woman Found Unconscious On Co Down Road
A woman has been found unconscious on a road in County Down. The woman, aged in her 50s, was discovered on the Sheepland Road at around 4.30am on Sunday. She was taken to hospital where she is believed to be in a serious condition.
