IRISH PRIDE DEAL REVIVES ORMEAU BAKERY

ORMEAU Bakery looks set to reaffirm its position as Northern Ireland’s leading bakery with the announcement of a million pound deal with Irish Pride Bakeries.

The deal, announced on Monday, June 12, will see the Ormeau Bakery supply nine premium bread products from its traditional Irish range to be marketed under the Irish Pride brand in outlets across the Republic.

The contract provides Ormeau Bakery with further market opportunities in the South. Ormeau already supplies Marks and Spencer’s and Iceland stores throughout the Republic with a range of premium and speciality Irish products.

Stuart McCullough, Ormeau sales and marketing director said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce this significant deal with Irish Pride Bakeries. We work hard to consistently produce top quality products which meet the high standards demanded by the Irish consumer.

“This deal will allow the Irish consumer to have widespread access to the 125-year-old Ormeau tradition and the best of our exciting new baking techniques.”

Ormeau Bakery taken over by Mother's Pride
Mothers Pride Northern Ireland have announced the takeover of the south Belfast-based Ormeau Bakery. The contracts setting out the move have already been exchanged and the deal is set to be completed on Friday March 1.

Bakery proprietor fined for food safety offences
A home bakery proprietor has been fined by Belfast Magistrates for food safety offences. At Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon, south Belfast home bakery proprietor John McKeag received a fine of £4,500, with £263 costs, for nine offences under The Food Safety (General Food Hygiene) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995.

Property Firm Wins Deposit Case
The Belfast High Court has dismissed a case taken against a property company by a buyer seeking to reclaim the deposit he had put down on an apartment. The verdict came down on the side of Big Picture Developments, the company behind the Bakery apartments on the Ormeau road in the south of the city.

Ruling On Belfast Apartment Test Case
The High Court in Belfast has ruled in favour of a local property developer in the first 'test case' against buyers over new apartments. Barry Gilligan (pictured) began legal proceedings against 20 people who had booked homes at the Bakery development in the south of the city, but failed to complete the sale.
