Independent Councillor Joins Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin leader on Moyle Council Cara McShane has announced that Moyle council Independent Councillor Colum Thompson has joined Sinn Féin
Councillor McShane said: "I am delighted that the Árd Comhairle has this morning ratified the membership of Moyle Councillor Colum Thompson. Colum had approached the party about membership and we have held several conversations with him.
"Colum will join a strong Sinn Féin team on Moyle District Council and I look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead."
Councillor Thompson added: "I stood as an independent in the last election but found that my politics were very close to that of Sinn Féin. I have decided that I can represent the people of Moyle more effectively as being part of a strong and growing political party and all the back up that that provides.
"I decided that I would apply for membership and I am happy that my request has been ratified today. I look forward to working as part of a team and to providing a strong representation to all the people of Moyle Council area."

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of a number of drugs offences. The arrest follows the search of a house in the Oldtown Road area of Bushmills, on Thursday morning. Officers arrived at the house after reports of suspicious activity.

The Police Ombudsman office has confirmed that it is to investigate the use of plastic baton rounds fired as police attempted to deal with violent disturbances between rival factions in east Belfast. Serious rioting broke out in east Belfast on Tuesday afternoon in broad daylight.

Sinn Fein's Jim McVeigh has confirmed he is stepping down as a Councillor. The leader of the Sinn Fein group on the Belfast City Council announced that he will officially stand down in February. However, he will continue to work as a Sinn Fein and trade union activist.

Sinn Fein launch collusion dossier
Sinn Féin have launched a document aimed at highlighting specific alleged collusion between loyalist paramilitaries and security forces. It emergerdf that the document was presented to Taoiseach Bertie Ahern during Saturday's talks between the Irish Government and the Sinn Fein leadership.
