UTV has received a Special Award at the One ITV Regions and Nations Awards in London for its’ recognition of UTV’S outstanding commitment to Current Affairs and Investigative Journalism, including UTV Live Tonight and Insight Investigations that UTV has passionately broadcast over the years.

A special mention was given to the recent Insight documentary ‘The resurrection of Brendan Smyth’ that also won the national Royal Television Society award in the Nations and Regions Current Affairs and News category.

Darwin Templeton, Head of News, UTV, said: “It was a great honour to accept this award on behalf of everyone who has contributed to UTV current affairs programmes over the years.

"The judges paid tribute to the work that had been done against the backdrop of the Troubles and noted that the journalistic skills developed in those days were still very much in evidence today.

"It was very pleasing to see our commitment to current affairs and the efforts of our staff acknowledged in this way by our peers in ITV."
