Ministers Launch ni2012 In Delhi
The First Minister Rt Hon Peter Robinson MLA, and deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP,MLA launched ni2012 in Delhi at the end of their trade and business mission to the United Arab Emirates and India.
The event was attended by a range of Indian travel operators and travel agents.
During their five day trade and business mission Ministers visited Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Mumbai and New Delhi. In addition to supporting the Investni mission to India the Ministers also met a number of major companies in both countries as well as key political leaders.
Speaking about the visit the First Minister Rt Hon Peter Robinson MLA said: "If we are to grow our economy and create jobs it is important that we develop relationships with countries like the UAE and India. A number of Northern Ireland businesses are already operating in these countries and I believe the visit will deliver further opportunities for Northern Ireland in terms of growing our exports and creating new employment. In addition, there is much value in supporting these links by building strong government to government relations."
Commenting on the importance of building international relations the deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MP, MLA said: "The investment announcements as a result of our visits to North America have demonstrated the value of building international relations. We recognise that there are developing economies like India as well as the lucrative markets in the UAE. It is vital that we come out and build up the type of business relationships that are required in order to bring investment opportunities for our people."
