£20K Reward Offered For Information On Mathers' Murder

An award totaling £20,000 has been offered up for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the murder of Joanne Mathers over 30 years ago.

Mrs Mathers, a mother-of-one, was murdered in 1981 as she collected census forms in the Gobnascale area in Londonderry.

It is understood that she was shot dead by the IRA but her killer has never been traced.

In a bid for fresh information the victim's husband, Lowry, is offering the reward through the independent charity Crimestoppers UK.

Mr Mathers' who had been married to Joanne for seven years at the time of the murder said he wants justice for his wife, even after all these years.

Man Jailed In Connection With Lyra McKee Murder
A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in jail in connection with the murder of Lyra McKee. Niall Sheerin appeared before Laganside Court today, Wednesday 14th September. He was sentenced to seven years having pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm and ammunition.

Reward offered for information on postman's murder
A £20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the prosecution of the murders of a young Catholic postman in County Antrim. Daniel McColgan, 20, was shot dead by two gunmen as he arrived for work at a postal depot in the loyalist Rathcoole estate on the outskirts of north Belfast on 12 January.
