Father And Daughter Stable After Shooting

A father and daughter who were shot outside their North Belfast home on Tuesday are in a stable condition.

The 47-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were injured during an incident at Evelyn Gardens in Skegoneill after 8.30am on Tuesday last.

They were sitting in their car, parked in the street outside their home,when the shots were fired by a masked gunman.

The teenager, a student, suffered stomach and hand injuries. Her father suffered life-threatening chest injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Karen Baxter said both were "extremely lucky to be alive".

It has emerged that a 33-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday evening. He was released on bail on Wednesday.

The investigation continues.

Renewed Appeal For Information Over Fatal Newtownards Collision
The PSNI have renewed their appeal for information on a fatal collision outside Newtownards on Tuesday 28 June. 58-year-old Lee Noble, from the Portavogie area, died as a result of injuries sustained when the grey Kawasaki motorbike he was riding was in collision with a car on the Portaferry Road outside Newtownards just after midnight on Tuesday.

Funeral Of Popular NI Broadcaster Open To The Public
A funeral service for popular local broadcaster Stephen Clements is to be held in Belfast next Tuesday, 14 January. The service for the BBC Radio Ulster star will take place at Roselawn cemetery and will be open to the public. News of the death of the much-loved radio presenter was announced by the BBC on Tuesday, 07 January.

Police Return To North Belfast Murder Scene
Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of 46-year-old Kevin Kearney in north Belfast have returned to the scene today in an effort to gather more information. Mr Kearney was shot on Tuesday morning, 8 October, as he took his dogs for a walk in Alexandra Park, a short distance from his home in Dunmore Avenue.

The widower of a murdered Co Tyrone honeymooner has accused a lawyer for one of the men on trial for her murder of lying. A barrister for Avinash Treebhoowoon opened the case for the defence in the Michaela McAreavey murder trial in Mauritius today.

Man Questioned Following River Bann Death
A 26-year-old man is still being questioned in connection with the death of a 21-year-old Owen McKeown. Mr McKeown’s body was recovered from the River Bann on Sunday following a search by rescue teams and around 50 volunteers.
