US Court Due To Rule On Troubles Interviews
A US court is due to rule on whether 'controversial' interviews conducted with former IRA members will be released to the PSNI.
The interviews which took place between 2001 and 2006 were part of the Boston College Belfast Project which involved academics, historians and journalists conducting interviews with former republicans and loyalists about their activities during the Troubles.
Northern Ireland's Police have been seeking the transcripts of an interview given by former IRA member Dolours Price.
It is believed that this particular interview will give insight into the murder of so-called 'disappeared' Jean McConville.
The PSNI said it has re-opened the inquiry into Mrs McConville's murder, and on that basis is seeking the transcripts.
Earlier a US court ruled that PSNI interest in the interviews was legitimate and the tapes of the Price interview and seven others deemed pertinent to an investigation into the Disappeared are now in the hands of the US federal court.
The Boston College who helped conduct the interviews however have appealed against the decision to release some of the tapes. They admit that they can no longer protect the anonymity of Dolours Price after she 'outed' herself during another interview but they query the value of the other interviews to police investigations.
Meanwhile others in Northern Ireland argue that the release of these could rock the peace process.

A legal challenge over attempts to obtain interviews with former paramilitary members has been thrown out of court. The ruling has been considered a minor victory for US prosecutors but an appeals court will have the final say on the release of the interviews. Boston College, who carried out the interviews, have refused to release them to the PSNI.

A United States Court will be asked later today to rule that interviews with former terrorists should not be handed over to the PSNI. Last year Northern Ireland authorities started a legal bid to gain access to interviews carried out by Boston College with former republican and loyalist terrorists.

Police Attempts On Boston College Tapes Are Halted
A High Court judge has temporarily stopped police from taking possession of interviews with Old Bailey bomber Dolours Price. Mr Justice Treacy restrained the PSNI from receiving tape recordings carried out with Ms Price for a history project at Boston College in the US.

Woman Charged With Attempted Murder After Man Stabbed In Co Down
A 36-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Co Down. The 54-year-old victim was stabbed in the Manor Court area in Moira on Monday. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The woman is to appear at Craigavon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
