Minister Launches Social Enterprise Business Centre
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland has launched the newly refurbished BEAM centre, Londonderry.
The Business in the Community BEAM project at the INVISTA site, Maydown, has received £300,000 from the Department's Modernisation Fund Capital Programme to significantly increase services to the local community with an emphasis on creating and sustaining a social enterprise sector. The BEAM centre has been fully modernised creating a state of the art business hub. The International Fund for Ireland (IFI) also funded the project.
Minister McCausland said: "I am pleased that my Department has contributed to the refurbishment and modernisation of the Beam Centre. I am looking forward to seeing how the new facilities help develop business partnerships and the social enterprise sector in this area. The Modernisation Fund has been very successful in helping voluntary and community organisations to offer new and better services to the community and to become more sustainable."
The refurbishment of the Centre includes high quality workspace, conference facilities and one to one mentor rooms. The interior has been transformed to provide a state of the art business hub that is spacious and modern and that will foster creativity and innovation.
