TASK FORCE EXPLORES NI BUSINESS
A new task force has been established to explore how Irish business can better implement Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) policies.
Representatives from numerous Irish companies gathered in Dublin to explore how leading Northern Ireland companies have integrated environmental, social and ethical concerns into the business decision-making process and become actively involved in their communities.
Eamonn Doyle, Manager Director of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, who leads the Business in the Community Task Force on CSR Policy and Practice Development, said: “Good environmental, social and ethical behaviour are key differentiators for clients and the public.
“In implementing CSR Policies & Practices, companies are able to demonstrate their efforts regarding environmental management, they are able to show how they care for the welfare of their employees and they can illustrate what they are doing to combat social exclusion.”
Initiated by Business in the Community, the meeting was the first of its kind in Ireland. It is also the first in a series that will foster the development of links between business engaged in and committed to sustainable competitive profit – achieving marketplace success with a minimum effect on the environment and a maximum positive effect on each company shareholder.
