160 Jobs At Risk As GAME Goes Into Administration
Video games retailer GAME has gone into administration.
160 people are employed in Northern Ireland in 20 of its branches.
PwC, the administrators, said they a sale of the business is achievable.
Mike Jervis, one of the administrators, said: "Despite these challenges, we believe that there is room for a specialist game retailer in the territories in which it operates, including its biggest one, the UK."
GAME asked for its shares to be suspended last Wednesday, and announced it was calling in administrators.

Mivan To Cease Trading
Construction company Mivan has announced that is to cease trading. The Antrim-based firm was placed in administration earlier this month, with 98 of its 289 employees being made redundant. An additional 144 redundancies were announced today. It is understood that some staff will be retained to assist administrators finalise remaining contracts.

A financial services firm based in London is to create 160 new jobs in Belfast. FinTru confirmed it is expanding its Belfast centre of excellence and is to recruit 60 experienced roles and 100 graduate roles over the next five years.

Harland & Wolff Wins 'Powerful' Contract
Belfast's Harland and Wolff has won a contract for the design and building of two offshore substation platforms for the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm off the coast of North Wales. The H&W Heavy Industries business will work on the substations that are to be completed by June 2012.

Festival showcases local skills
Northern Ireland participants at this year’s Smithsonian Folklife Festival are demonstrating the traditional and modern trades of the region. Belleek are showing their master-skills in pottery and painting in Washington while Ulster Carpets are designing carpets and allowing onlookers to input into the final design.

Minister for Children and Young People, Maria Eagle, today launched the first cross government Children and Young People Action Plan. The plan will deliver the aims of the 10-year strategy, “Our Children and Young People – Our Pledge”, launched in June 2006.
