NTL APPOINTS MD FOR NI CONSUMER BUSINESS

NTL have appointed Ian Jeffers as managing director of consumer business in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Mr Jeffers, who is NTL’s Director Broadband Implementation, is currently co-ordinating the company’s broadband activity, takes up his position as managing director of NTL’s consumer business in Northern Ireland this month. He will have additional responsibility for Scotland and Wales and his primary focus will be delivering first class service for consumers in all three locations.

Stephen Carter, Managing Director of NTL, said: "Ian has a track record of delivering sales and excellent customer experience. These core skills will help us as we continue to focus on giving our customers the communications services they require, when and how they want them."

Mr Jeffers joined NTL in 1995 as head of communications in Northern Ireland, from his position as MD of Anderson Kenny Public Relations. He was promoted to deputy managing director NTL Northern Ireland in 1997. Moving to Cambridge in 1998 to manage the newly acquired Cambridge Cable as managing director, he successfully integrated the business into NTL’s portfolio.

Two years later, he was appointed managing director of NTL Ireland (formerly Cablelink) in Dublin, a previously state-owned cable television company with a record 83 per cent customer growth and retention rate.

Commenting on his new appointment, Ian said "I am delighted to be taking up this new challenge and will continue to improve NTL's service to its customers. I am looking forward to working with the management team and staff in Northern Ireland.

"Northern Ireland is of key importance for NTL and it is my intention to build NTL into the leading broadband service company."

NTL say that the senior appointment reflects the company’s continued commitment to improved operational performance and excellent customer service.

Andy Bridson continues in his role as Managing Director of NTL Business, Northern Ireland.
