NI E-TECHNOLOGY FIRMS SHOWCASED IN DUBLIN
FIVE companies from one of Northern Ireland’s most innovative industry sectors recently took part in Comms 2011.
Held in the RDS, Dublin, the ICT exhibition catered for the international IT and telecommunications market. The Northern Ireland group was co-ordinated by LEDU the Small Business Agency for Northern Ireland. Taking part were Networks, from Belfast, blueChip Technologies from Bangor, Singularity from Londonderry, Western Connect from Londonderry and Tyrone Fabrications from Ballygawley.
LEDU Business Development Manager, Brian Dane who has been working with the sector said that Comms 2001 had been identified as an ideal showcase in which to display Northern Ireland companies’ considerable talent in this field.
Mr Dane said: “It was very appropriate to have a Northern Ireland presence at this event. The companies exhibiting represent a vibrant and innovative sector which deserves to be seen by a global audience. I believe that the contact with major decision makers and influencers has presented fresh opportunities and will open up new markets.”
The event, the largest of its kind in Ireland, attracted a record attendance figure of more than 12,000 people, from across a wide range of IT and communications sectors.
Areas covered by the exhibition covered WAP, e-commerce, Internet services, mobile voice and data communications and the latest in Web technologies and innovations.

New fire examination programme a success
A programme designed to help make buildings across Northern Ireland safer from the risk of fire will complete its first phase this week. Successful candidates from the first independently approved Fire Risk Assessment examination to be undertaken in the UK were recognised at a ceremony in the City Hall, Belfast, on Monday April 15.
