NI Leaders To Meet US President

Northern Ireland's First and Deputy First Ministers, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness are due to meet with the US President Barak Obama in the Whitehouse today.

Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny will also be in the Whitehouse to meet with the President.

The visit is one of a series of engagements undertaken by Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness during St Patrick's week.

The two Northern Ireland leaders are working to boost tourism for Northern Ireland prior to a series of events which are attracting international interest.

In America and Canada, they will publicly launch the opening of Titanic Belfast and the Irish Open golf championship in Portrush.

They will also be looking ahead to 2013, when Londonderry will be the UK City of Culture.

Irish President Turns Down Invite To Mark NI Centenary
The DUP has asked the Irish President Michael D Higgins if he is "officially snubbing" Northern Ireland's centenary. Strangford MLA Peter Weir has written to the Irish President asking if his office is joining the SDLP and SF in boycotting events which mark NI's centenary.

President To Czech-Out Belfast Sights

Mixed response to Bush visit
There was a mixed response among Northern Ireland's political leaders yesterday following the visit of US President George Bush to the province. While Ulster Unionist leader, David Trimble was among the pro-agreement leaders invited to meet the President during his two-day visit to the province, the DUP's Ian Paisley was not.

Executive Leaders Meet EC President
Stormont top executives, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness have been having talks today on how the NI Assembly can maximise the funding it gets from Europe. They travelled to Brussels to meet European Commission President José Manuel Barroso, (pictured above).

Paisley and Adams discuss deals
The DUP leader Ian Paisley and Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams have met with Prime Minister Tony Blair and Chancellor Gordon Brown in London today. The separate meetings follow the Northern Ireland Assembly elections last week that saw the DUP and Sinn Fein romp home as the two largest parties in the suspended NI Assembly.
