"It is very fitting for Chester to become a centre for heritage skills, and I hope our partnership approach with West Cheshire College on heritage skills will gain strength in the next years, and offer young people a fantastic new career."
Two of the Council's heritage skills trainees have been invited to visit the Liverpool Central Library project by main contractor Shepherd Construction Ltd as part of their continuous personal development.
The two trainees, John Roberts and Jonathan Williams were impressed with the quality of craftsmanship and the attention to detail of the works.
The trainees are following specialists' courses at West Cheshire College in Chester, as part of the Heritage Lottery Fund supported 'Skills for the Future' project. The visit was also designed to see if future trainees could be placed on the project with Shepherd Construction Ltd or one of their subcontractors.
