£150K Cannabis Siezed
Cannabis plants worth an estimated £150,000 have been discovered in Newtownabbey. A so-called cannabis "factory" was found during a search at a house in Dorchester Gardens on Wednesday. Two men, aged 43 and 49, were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences including cultivating cannabis and possessing class B drugs with intent to supply. They are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Consultation On Gay Marriage Begins
A 12-week consultation on allowing gay marriage is set to be launched by the government.While civil partnerships, introduced in 2005, give gay couples the same legal rights as married couples the government wants to go further by allowing them to make vows and declare that they are married.Many senior church figures and some Conservative MPs have fiercely opposed the plans.
Teen Murder Investigation Re-Opened
Detectives have reopened the investigation into the murder of a teenager found dead in a shallow grave after new lines of inquiry emerged. Jonathan Cairns, 18, was assaulted on his way home after a night out in Ballykelly, Co Derry, on April 25, 1999. His body was found in Loughermore Forest, five miles outside the village. One man was jailed for perverting the course of justice but no one has been convicted of Mr Cairns' murder. Police said a number of new lines of inquiry emerged during a review of the cold case.

Two men have been arrested following the discovery of a suspected cannabis factory at a property in Craigavon on Tuesday 10th January. Shortly after 5.15pm, officers received and responded to a report of suspicious activity at a house in the Carrigart Crescent area.

Man Charged Over £16,000 Cannabis Find
A 22-year-old man has been charged after £16,000 worth of cannabis plants were seized in L'Derry. The discovery was made after police searched a house in the Waterside area on Friday, 22 September. The suspect has been accused of growing cannabis, possession of a Class B drug and intent to supply.

400 cannabis plants have been seized during a police operation in west Belfast at the weekend. The plants were seized on Sunday after officers raided the cannabis factory in the Broadway area as part of a planned search.
