Elliott Quits As UUP Leader
Ulster Unionist Party leader, Tom Elliott, has announced he is standing down from his post.
On Thursday night Mr Elliott said he was aware that some people did not give him a "fair opportunity" to develop and progress many initiatives.
He said: "Some of this obstruction and hostility began immediately following my election as leader and has been relentless since then. However I accept that is part and parcel of politics."
Mr Elliott took over the leadership from Sir Reg Empey in 2010. He will remain a member of the Assembly for Fermanagh-South Tyrone.
The party are due to come together for their annual meeting on 31 March, to vote on a new leader.
