IFS COMMENDED AT E-COMMERCE AWARDS
COUNTY Antrim based multi-modal transport solution provider, Ireland Freight Services (IFS), has been specially commended at the national final of the UK online for business/InterForum E-Commerce Awards 2001.
The company was singled out of 11 other regions and over 1,200 entrants – more than treble the number of entrants from last year’s awards.
Although the company failed to win any award, judges singled out both IFS, and east of England finalist, Pryse Jones, from the top twelve for commendation.
IFS, which was established 34 years ago, began by sending out goods by air from Northern Ireland to the rest of the UK, and through the use of new technologies the business has become a global logistics business.
In 1999, IFS in partnership with its web design company, Web Design Solutions, designed and constructed Internet software to create a fully integrated supply chain tool that is based online.
As a result, Vendorvillage, the first fully web-based vendor managed inventory hub in Ireland providing e-commerce solutions throughout the supply chain, was created. (MB)
