MTV Titanic Sounds Line-Up Revealed
MTV have announced the line-up for its Titanic Sounds concert in Belfast in April, part of a three-week festival commemorating the ship.
For one night on 13 April, thousands of Belfast’s music fans will enjoy explosive live performances from Olly Murs, Sean Paul and Rizzle Kicks – with one further performer to be announced in the coming weeks.
Olly Murs, one of the UK’s most successful male artists in recent years, who, fresh from a smash nationwide tour, a sell-out date at the Odyssey Arena and currently riding high in the European charts, will treat the crowd to tracks from his double-platinum self-titled debut album alongside hits including ‘Dance with Me Tonight’ and ‘Heart Skips a beat’ from highly anticipated, old school-soul vibe follow-up ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’.
Olly said: "I can’t wait to perform at MTV Presents Titanic Sounds this April. I will be bringing my 9-piece band and hope to put on a great live show! I always love coming to Belfast and it will be a great way to commemorate 100 years since the Titanic was built there!"
Global superstar Sean Paul will take time from his world tour to burst into Belfast with his audacious pop and dancehall rhythms. With a new look and his trademark on-stage energy, the Jamaican star – who has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide - will rock the under-the-stars crowd with infectious new tracks from his recently released and highly acclaimed fourth album, ‘Tomahawk Technique’ as well as classic hits from Grammy-winning album ‘Dutty Rock’.
"We are about to bring some incredible energy to Belfast," said Sean Paul.
"I’m thrilled to be a part of the celebration and can promise that the entire crowd will be on their feet from start to finish. I can’t wait to share some of my new music with the fans!"
Joining the bill – and representing the incredible new talent to come out of the UK in the last 12 months - is hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks (Jordan "Rizzle" Stephens and Harley "Sylvester" Alexander-Sule). Despite only releasing their debut album ‘Stereo Typical’ in October 2011, the Brighton duo have nailed the UK music charts with their indie come hip-hop style, resulting in a top 5 album debut. The duo will perform for the first time ever in Belfast – taking time out from their UK tour to rock the crowd with effervescent performances of ‘Down with the Trumpets’, ‘When I was a Youngster’ and current hit ‘Mama do the Hump’.
Rizzle Kicks commented: "We are thrilled to be coming back to Belfast with MTV. We were over last year for the EMA's - which was awesome. We can't wait to get on stage and perform this time."
Once again shining MTV’s global spotlight on the city of Belfast, ‘MTV Presents Titanic Sounds’ will be filmed and broadcast across 63 channel and 152 territories around the world as part of the network’s World Stage franchise. The event will also be broadcast on MTV UK on 5 May.
Although the event is free, a £5 admin charge is being applied to all tickets.
