ULSTER DUO INCLUDED IN WALKER CUP TEAM
MICHAEL Hoey and Graeme McDowell have been included in the British and Irish side to defend the Walker Cup against America at Sea Island, Georgia in August.
The Ulster duo found their way into 10-man team which includes 40-year-old veteran Gary Wolstenholme.
Wolstenholme's cup career is still best remembered for his victory over Tiger Woods at Porthcawl in 1995.
Also included in the side are Nick Dougherty, Richard McEvoy, Peter McEvoy, Steven O'Hara, Marc Warren, Nigel Edwards and Jamie Elson.
Belfast's Hoey recently won the British Amateur Matchplay champion at Prestwick.
The 22-year-old Shandon Park player defeated Welshman Ian Campbell one-up in a thrilling 36-hole final.
Chairman of selectors Peter Benka said he was confident that under Peter McEvoy the team would gel and achieve its first ever back-to-back wins. (MB)
