TARGETS ANNOUNCED FOR NI STATISTICS AND RESEARCH AGENCY

NEW performance targets for the Government’s research agency, aimed at ensuring greater efficiency in the delivery of public services, has been launched by Minister of Finance and Personnel, Mark Durkan.

The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) provide a statistical and research service to support decision making by Northern Ireland Ministers and Departments and informs elected representatives and the wider community through the dissemination of official statistics.

The Agency also administers the marriage laws and provides a system for the civil registration of births, marriages, adoptions and deaths in Northern Ireland.

Welcoming the Minister’s announcement the Agency’s Chief Executive, Edgar Jardine, said: "The targets set by Mr Durkan for my Agency are particularly challenging and reflect our commitment to deliver a high quality service to all those who use our products and services."

NEW TARGETS ANNOUNCED FOR VALUATION AND LANDS AGENCY

Enterprise Agency Gains Two Directors
The representative body for the Local Enterprise Agency Network - Enterprise Northern Ireland - has appointed two new non-Executive Directors to its Board. They are Sandy Smith, former Director General of the International Fund for Ireland and Angela McGowan, Chief Economist at Northern Bank.

FUSION Gets Investment Boost
The all-island development agency, InterTradeIreland has announced it is investing nearly £12m in 180 cross-border research and development projects, by 2010, through its FUSION programme. This scheme matches companies with universities or colleges that have the specialist expertise they need and high calibre science and technology graduates.
